Essex Carp Lake
Welcome to Holyfield Carp Lakes website. You may choose from 3 lakes (Top Lake, Bottom Lake & match Lake) Holyfield Fishery provides toilets, a cafe and 24 hour CCTV monitoring of the car park. For details of the three lakes see below.
Holyfield Bottom Lake is a specimen carp lake, with carp ranging from around 8lb up to 35.5lb. Including Tench up to 6.5lb, the lake itself is just under four acres with a silty bottom, the lake is well stocked with average sized Carp at around 20lb. Membership for this lake is available or day tickets can be purchased on the bank.

Holyfield Top Lake restricted to memebers only at weekends and is for over 18's only. The present lake record is 33lb 4oz, with an average size of 15lb. There is also a good stock of Tench up to 4lb, the lake features two islands with mature trees surrounding. The bottom of the lake is clay with some weed and Lilly pads, during the summer months, many of the fish are caught at the surface. Top and bottom lakes are both open 7 days a week.
Holyfield Match Lake recently opened in 2003, is around one acre in size. Consisting of 12 swims, the lake is very well stocked with a range of fish including Roach, Rudd, Bream, Perch, carp and Tench. This lake is open to beginners or experienced fishermen. Children are welcome but must be supervised by an adult.
The lake is open seven days a week for day tickets or can be booked for private matches. Holyfield Fishery provides toilets, a cafe and 24 hour CCTV monitoring of the car parking area. We also often have some small home bred Carp and Tench available in our fish house.

my son an mayself had agood day on bottom lake,son had lots of runs and 19LB common, Istayyed for another hour ,had runs ,lost 2 ,end with 20LB plus.I must agree tolits have lot need to be cleaned and cheked ,some people are not clean
DONT BOTHER AT THE WEEKEND ITS PACKED EVEN THOUGH THE TOP LAKE IS EMPTY THE DICK WONT LET YOU FISH IT UNLESS A MEMBER,

There are no 30lb carp in the Top Lake
Ive caught 254 carp from this lake in 2 seasons, the biggest being 24lb. Nice lakes but u gotta fish the bottom if u want the chance of a 30.
Also the surface fishing rules keep changing, confusing the fish and the angler. Ban the surface, the fish dropped around 20-30% in weight, it works but not here.
About time you told the truth and stopped making your hard earning customers believe there is still 30lb carp in the top lake.As we both know very well you sold them to furnace.Why do you not just tell the truth and let people fish else where for the chance to catch there dream of a 30 lb carp.Hope your happy with your self you can tell your not a fisherman.
its about time you had proper toilet facilitiesthe porter loos are not sufficient
for the amount of people that come to fish at your lakes.
a lot of ladies are fishing now and would approve of haveing a nice fresh smelling toilet to use were they can wash there hands after useing it
holyfield is a top class fishery great for beginners and experiencied alike

Holyfield in Waltham Abbey is a fishery with 3 lakes. Iain the balliff is a friendly guy and is always on hand to give out some good advice and tips if you are new to fishing the venue.
The smallest lake is a match lake but the largerst lake is the day ticket carp fishery.
The lake can get busy especially at weekends so advisable to get their at first light when it opens. Night fishing is allowed for members
In terms of bait small 10mm boilies work well all through out the year.
I had a 221lb common out on a trout pellet recently. Zig rigs work well in summer as well
Their is also a top lake with some bigger fish but you need to be a member to fish that lake.
Their is a small cafe on the site with a portaloo.
Overall a good fishery and offers a chance of a 30lb+ carp to most anglers willing to put the effort in
