Redmire Pool is a farm pond less than 3 acres in size but the history surrounding it has always captured the hearts and minds of Carp Anglers worldwide. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Herefordshire, Redmire's life as such started in March 1934 when the then owners of the estate instructed a fish supplier by the name of Donald Leney to stock the pool with 50 small Carp (5.5"-8") in a bid to combat the extensive weed in the pool. These fish since known as 'Leneys' along with the Redmire stockings and stockings he carried out elsewhere around mainly Southern England have produced most of the known big Carp in England today. These fish lay untouched until 1951 when a local angler by the name of Bob Richards managed to get permission to fish the pool. On the 3rd October on a dull foggy day Bob was to re-write the record books by capturing a magnificient Mirror Carp of 31.4lbs. The following year saw the famous Richard (Dick) Walker on Redmire, and on September 13th he caught the famous 'Clarrisa' at a new record weight of 44lbs. 'Clarrisa' spent the rest of her days residing in London Zoo. Dick's record stayed intact until Chris Yates once again stunned the angling world by capturing a massive 51.5lb Mirror. Redmire has been fished by all the famous names in Carp Fishing over the years, including:- Jack Hilton, Tom Mintram, Bill Quinlan, Len Arbery, Kevin Clifford, Peter Springate and Kevin Maddocks to name but a few. In those days Redmire was very much a 'closed shop' and the fishing was kept very private and secretive, but now thanks to the present owners the magic and mystery of Redmire is available to all.

I was lucky enough to fish Redmire as an awestruck 15 year old back in the '90's. Fishing for me was - and still is - about the mystery, atmosphere and feeling like you're stepping into the unknown, and Redmire delivered this in spades.
From the moment we drove down the gravel track to the gate, to the first time I stepped on to the dam... it was simply magical, and I'll never forget that week.
The fishing was secondary to the overall experience, but the fishing itself was also magical - stalking around in the undergrowth, and catching glimpses of big 'uns by the boat house and dam. Finally the work paid off with the most beautiful and perfect common (mid twenties) that I have ever seen.
After a 13 year hiatus from angling, I am now going to dust off my rods and start up again... when I have brushed up on my skills I will back at Redmire, and even now just the thought of that and the memories and images it conjurs up sends a tingle down my spine!

i would love to have a carp fishery as i go to many places to fish, for carp.I fell that the lakes you would really like to buy are way to much money for the size of the lake if your going to sell your lake look at the size of the lake first ,and think how many people come here to fish, because if noy many people go there why would you sell it for so much.If people go there and they also think the lakes good then you can sell it for a good price. After people know lots of fisherman go there you got more of a chance of the selling the place, one more thng................. hoe big are the fish in the lake and wat fish have you got in the lake. NOW GET SELLING THAT LAKE OF YOURS hahaha
If a things worth saying, its worth saying several times. Especially if its about fishing.
Would love to have fished Redmire back in the day. It was almost a mythical place to budding specimen hunters as I then was in the 70s -80s. Redmire epitomised the mystery of carp fishing in those days. It was wonderful to think there was an unfishable, timeless water hidden somewhere in the depths of the countryside, which contained car pof unfathomable habits and prodigous size. Little do the present generation of young carp anglers realise their mistake in trying to eliminate the mystery from carp fishing. Once that is gone, there's no point to it.

i managed to fish this pool in january 2007 with a friend we both blanked but would love to go back in the summer to take in such a lovely pool!
I fished Redmire 50 years ago when nobody knew just how big the fish grew to. My friend and I saw one on one trip that we reckon went 60lb. My best was 23lb. I'm told there's nothing over about 35lb now.
I'm afraid that Redmire is now like an aging Hollywood star - living on her reputation rather than her performanc!
Redmire is an amazing place. The way people like Chris describe their memories of the place, it has to be special. Chris has fished tons of top waters, but thinks so highly of Redmire.
I will fish this wonderful place before I die.
Respect Redmire...
